Vidya Rajan is an educator, scientist, and science writer based in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. She holds a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Leicester and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Edinburgh. She is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Medical and Molecular Sciences at the University of Delaware and a technical writer for a biotechnology company.

Vidya has published peer-reviewed research spanning molecular biology, neuroendocrinology, plant biotechnology, and agricultural science. She is the author of Inner Nature, a monthly science column exploring the wonders of the natural world.

Her debut book, Rubber: The Social and Natural History of an Indispensable Substance, was published by Westland Books in 2025 and won an AutHer Award for non-fiction in 2026.

Vidya has taught at the secondary and tertiary levels, and is a technical writer and certified online course developer. She has been active in science education and community organizations across Pennsylvania and Texas. She enjoys reading, cooking, woodworking, nature walks and red wine.
